MINEDUC launches TVET public awareness campaign

Kigali, 07 February 2022:  Honourable Minister of State in Charge of ICT and TVET Mrs Claudette IRERE  officiated the launch of TVET public awareness campaign organised by Rwanda Polytechnics ( RP) and Rwanda TVET Board, ( RTB)  under the theme ‘’Join TVET to acquire technical skills for a brighter future’’ 

The overall objective of the proposed TVET Public Awareness Campaign is to rebrand TVET and change its Perception by the general public to contribute to the  Rwanda's aspiration of increasing the number of O’ Level/ 9YBE graduates joining TVET from the current 31% up to 60%.. The campaign will lead to the promotion of TVET system in the country with respect to identified key Priority Economic Sectors, encourage more girls to join TVET especially STEM related trades  as well as establishment of strong partnership between TVET institutions , private sector and other stakeholders.

O’Level students ( S3 leavers) will be sensitized to join TVET  and  facilitated to visit different TVET institutions to witness themselves what is being taught there and  when back to their respective schools they will be the Ambassadors to their fellows so that when they finish S3 they choose to join TVET.

The TVET awareness campaign is expected to last at least one month .After and the Launch that took  place in the City of Kigali., RTB team will proceed in Districts visiting 9YBE Schools/ Schools with O’level program with the support of Sector Education Inspectors, (SEI) the  District Directors of Education (DDE) and District Education Officers (DEOs).
