PM NGIRENTE INAUGURATES GS SAINT JEAN MUNINI IN NYARUGURU DISTRICT

On 4th July 2022, as Rwandans celebrated the 28th anniversary of Rwanda’s liberation, Right Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente joined Nyaruguru District residents, to inaugurate various development projects among which the upgraded GS Saint Jean Munini in Nyaruguru district, Southern Province.

In his remarks, the Prime Minister said that Rwanda’s achievements in the last 28 years were visible in different sectors including socio-economic, unity, leadership and security, he thanks to the great effort and collaboration between citizens and their leaders at different levels and commended his Excellency, the President of the Republic of Rwanda Paul Kagame for his visionary leadership that led to the liberation and development of Rwanda.

Apart from the rehabilitation of 24 existing classrooms at GS Saint Jean Munini school, a new block G+2 of 18 classrooms, a new dining hall that can accommodate 1,000 students in one shift, playgrounds, school fence, a new block of G+1 composed of 2 smart classrooms, staff room, offices, a school library, and 3 science laboratories were constructed to enhance literacy skills and STEM related courses.

GS Saint Jean Munini complex has also an ECD center with all its components to facilitate the nursery education in the newly inaugurated Munini IDP Model Village and surrounding community.

These newly constructed classrooms at GS Saint Jean Munini will mitigate the school dropouts, reduce long distances done by students going to school, reduce classrooms overcrowding and improve the quality education in basic education. This important step in school construction follows a mass construction phase of new 22,505 classrooms during 2020/2021 fiscal year.

While inaugurating this school, Right Hon. Prime Minister Dr. Edouard Ngirente was accompanied by different Ministers including the Minister of Education, Minister of Local Government Minister of Infrastructure, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Health, Minister of state MINALOC and MINISANTE, the Governor of Southern Province, the Director General of REB, RTDA and RHA, the Mayor of Nyaruguru District, Security organs representatives, other government officials and local residents.
