Minister of Education Dr. Eugene MUTIMURA calls upon all stakeholders involved in TVET sector activities to boost enrollment of students
On this Friday, 19th July 2019, the Minister of Education Dr. Eugene MUTIMURA called up on all stakeholders involved in Technical Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector activities including Rwanda Polytechnic, District Education Officers in charge of secondary and TVET schools and managers of TVET schools (public or private) to raise enrollment of students to reach 60% to match Rwanda’s vision in 2024.
The Minister made the call while opening a meeting with all Vice Mayors in charge of Social Affairs, District Education Officers in charge of Secondary school and TVET, Mangers of all TVET Schools across the country that took a place at Lemigo Hotel in Kigali.
“We have to devise ways and find a solution on low TVET enrollment to attain the number set by the government - “said Hon. Dr. Eugene MUTIMURA.
The Minister carried on opining everyone’s concern being crucial in realizing the target hence calling private investors to embark on establishing TVET schools.
Hon. Dr. Eugene Mutimura also promised that the Ministry is ready to help willing investors.
“We will support, whenever need arises, signing of Memorandum of Understanding as long as investors are committed to open a TVET school” said Dr Eugene.
Not only does the Minister mentioned the enrollment issue but also, he highlighted and stressed on the crucial role of especially Rwanda Polytechnic and WDA that they have to play while preparing a suitable curriculum to ensure a competent and trained student.
The Minister noted and highlighted that all senior and staff involved in TVET sub-sector training to have better understanding of strategies to increase access and quality of TVET trainees, effective management and standardization of comprehensive assessment.
