Kwibohora26: President Kagame marked the 26th Anniversary of Liberation Inagurating Gs Tabagwe

GS Tabagwe, Nyagatare District, 4 July 2020 - President Kagame on Saturday led Rwandans in marking the 26th Anniversary of Liberation. The Liberation Day is held every year on 4th July, marking the day the Rwandan Patriotic Army stopped the Genocide against the Tutsi.
The celebrations at the national level were held in Nyagatare District, Eastern Province, with the inauguration of Gishuro Model Village, home to 64 families, an ECD center, GS Tabagwe school with smart classrooms and a health centre.
The President of the Republic of Rwanda H.E Paul Kagame inaugurated the upgraded GS Tabagwe and ECD which have 22 rehabilitated primary school classrooms to accommodate 1,418 leaners, and 25 secondary school classrooms for 903 students.
Other facilities inaugurated include, students' hostels, dining hall, modern kitchen, administration block, laboratory, library, smart classrooms, playgrounds, school fence, sanitation facilities and school beautification.
Each house in Gishuro model village is equipped with gas, TV, radio and a smartphone for the family while the ECD center consists of 3 classrooms for 100 children, 1 office and 1 sleeping room as well as a kitchen with gas and cooking stoves.
The renovated Groupe Scolaire Tabagwe will be a home to over 3000 students and is equipped with smart classrooms to enhance digital literacy, laboratories, a library, and sports facilities.
In a televised speech on the occasion to celebrate 26 years of the liberation struggle on July 4, HE President of Republic of Rwanda said that the projects launched are part of the government’s efforts to annually improve the socio-economic lives of Rwandans as a way of continuing to liberate them.
“Today, we have inaugurated development activities in different parts of the country. These projects enable citizens to access services in their communities. They aim to improve livelihoods and uphold the dignity of every Rwandan”.
Kwibohora celebrations have been an occasion to celebrate several activities conducted by Rwanda Defense Force (RDF), in collaboration with other government institutions, aiming at contributing to national economic transformation. The 2019-2020 fiscal year saw the construction of 14 model villages which accommodate 832 families, 286 homes for Genocide survivors. Also 20 bridges across 8 districts and over 400KM of roads across 15 districts, 11 medical facilities were constructed as well as agriculture and livestock activities.
