Dr.Isaac Munyakazi launches Cultural month in Schools, schools’ leadership are requested to uphold planned activities
Kigali, Friday 16th August 2019: The Minister of State in charge of Primary and Secondary Education, Dr Isaac Munyakazi officiated launch of the cultural month in schools that started from August 16th, 2019 to September 16th, 2019. The Minister of State called upon all parents and teachers to uphold and motivate young generations of Rwanda with culture-based teachings at school and home. The Minister of State made this at an event to official launch a one month reserved for culture doctrines and UMUGANURA day celebrations in schools held at Ecole Privée Marie Auxiliatrice (EPMA) located in Nyarugenge district.
While launching the month, Dr Isaac Munyakazi reminded parents and teachers for they have a vital role of encouraging young generation in schools and universities to embark on the importance of culture, as it is the foundation of all knowledge that they acquire in daily life.
“We have to put more efforts in motivating our children so that our culture becomes a tangible pillar on which all sciences must be built” said Dr. Isaac Munyakazi.
He reiterated the objectives of the culture month and highlighted that through a collaboration of the Ministry of Education, Ministry of Local Government and the Ministry of Culture and Sport, organized the month for culture in schools with the aim of equipping students/pupils with Rwandan values such as patriotism, hard work, unity, integrity, honesty, respect…
“This initiative has a specific goal of disseminating Rwandan culturally based knowledge to students so as to know unlikeliness of Rwandan culture on which they have to take as a strong foundation of their life as well as preserving it” added Dr Munyakazi.
The Minister of State also requested all head teachers of all schools throughout the country to organize similar cultural and ‘umuganua’ event in their respective schools at primary, secondary school levels and in universities.
“Cultural activities to be organized by schools should involve students so as to allow them acquire culture teachings” said Dr Isaac Munyakazi.
The minister also shared his excellent message Paul Kagame that Education without values is in vain, emphasizing the need of culture based knowledge for young generation, asking Rwanda to study and use Kinyarwanda language frequently.
The culture month started Friday 16th August 2019 and will end on 16th September 2019.
